SONOGRAPHERS Medical Specialist Recruitment requires an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to work in the East Grinstead area.
The adult community Speech and Language Therapy team provides a service in an outpatient and community setting to adults with acquired communication, speech, eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. The service provides patient-centred assessment, intervention, treatment and education to patients, carers, professionals and other stakeholders.
The post holder will be responsible for the management and provision of a comprehensive community Speech and Language Therapy service for adults in East Grinstead and its surrounding areas, ensuring the needs of the patients are identified and met. The post holder will promote the independence of patients and assist them to maintain and/or improve their own physical, psychological and social well-being.
Qualifications
· Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
· HCPC Registration
· Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist
· Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses
· Education to Masters level in specialist SLT field relevant to role or equivalent combination of post-graduate education, courses and experience in neuro SLT.
Experience
• High level of experience of SLT practice post-graduation
• SLT experience within an acute hospital environment
• Staff and student supervision
• Experience of recruitment and selection.
• Undertaken a clinical audit
Knowledge
• Highly developed knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the patient group
• Highly developed knowledge of national policies and procedures a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the patient group)
• Highly developed knowledge of neurology and the consequences of impairment as related to the patient group
• Understanding of the principles of clinical governance /audit
• Current best practice in Dysphagia, and Stroke and Neurology
• Current best practice in outcome measurement in Dysphagia and communication disorders
Skills
• Highly developed interpersonal skills – including observation, listening and empathy skills
• Negotiation and Problem solving Skills
• Demonstrates excellent analytical skills and well-developed reflective practice
Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, including independent caseload management
• Good auditory discrimination skills and ability to transcribe speech phonetically
• Team leadership skills
